Thanks again, you saved me a ton of time. On my notebook, I have to select my external monitor for the program to work. I was never sure if I could “assign” the external monitor at the same time. Now I know.
As of now, I can get DRCS to work with my laptop (Lenovo) on all of my external monitors except my 32″ WXGA display. I can adjust the display resolutions on the laptop, but the display changes on my external monitors without me touching anything.
I suspect that I need to change the resolution of the 32″ display for DRCS to recognize it, but I’m at a loss as to how to do that. The only display-related menu options in DRCS are to change the display resolution and mouse sensitivity. I’ve tried increasing the mouse sensitivity, which resets the resolution back to the external monitor’s default setting.
How can I force DRCS to change the resolution of my 32″ WXGA display?
I am running win7 64 bit with 2 Nvidia 6200 nforce 430 graphics cards, a Xeon processor and 16 gig of memory. I have been using Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit for almost 4 years with no problems whatsoever. There is no warranty on my system and I was not planning on spending this much money on a system, I just wanted to try and see if anything could be run from my PC.
Although, I had a problem with my other PC running win7 32bit. I had used the Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection program to remote into the computer. The problem I was experiencing was that the system would run very slow when run from the RDP session. My guess is that it was to do with the GT 640 nForce 730 graphics card I have and the 2 Gig of system memory. When starting the program you are asked to give the name of the remote control you would like to use.
You do this either through a dialog box or through a registry key.
If a dialog box is used you simply click Ok.
If a registry key is used you can enter any name for the remote control by using the text entry box and you must include a period after the name.
You can specify the name of the remote control in the registry key below:
`HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PTC\DRCS\Custom\`
The `SOFTWARE\PTC\DRCS\Custom` entry is the default for all installations but you can create other named entries if you wish.
The rest of the entries are for administrative use, you can place any comment in the value name.
You can also specify the address of the remote control in the registry key below:
