by then, the necessity for a consolidated edition of the state standards had become obvious, and the tamil nadu school education board began a mammoth project in the mid 1980s to compile a standard publication on the subject, to keep pace with the demands of the industry. a committee comprising an equal number of representatives from different boards in different states, and the tamil nadu education authority was constituted to prepare the consolidated edition.
