My SOLIDWORKS 2018 license got deactivated because I could not get it installed on my personal computer. 🙁 This is a bit frustrating, but I think it happens a lot. I got SOLIDWORKS 2018, and when I put it in C: drive, it was active. I believe that the software manufacturer will install it at C: drive if I have their notepad. So I was wondering if it was that way for other people. I was sure of this because I tried the System Workspace but it did not activate it. If you want, I can send you the installation file in case you want to use it. I used the batch file to install it. I extracted the solids files from the installer. I found the setting.sldprt and saved it in another folder. Then I opened my notepad and clicked Yes for the “Open to write all files in the current location. ” in the right column. Once it was saved, I went into the temporary folder and deleted the solids.sldprt file.

I was installing SOLIDWORKS and after extracting the installation file it said “Installer encountered an error, and some tools will not be available.” Then I went to C:/ to check the logs and the log file was saying “Error 7.

In the Customer Portal, SOLIDWORKS is a stand-alone Subscription license, and is managed by the Customer Portal system. Like all Subscription licenses, it automatically renews every 12 months. It is not possible to deactivate the license, and you cannot change your subscription. This is a good thing when you wish to renew your subscription or cancel it.

Since the Customer Portal is integrated into the SOLIDWORKS system, it is also possible for the Customer Portal to change these activation parameters for you automatically when you activate a new subscription. If that happens, then any activated licenses will revert to the parameters that were active on your last successful activation.

after installing a new serial number, it’s recommended to first delete old license keys for any existing products, or apply them to products that were already activated. by doing this, you are avoiding the potential for the activation to fail with an error message that can leave you scratching your head. now its time to activate the new serial number using any of the activation methods below.
