I was happy to see the new features described as “beta”, no promises of performance, clean interface, no more menu in the middle of the screen, etc. I am referring to some of the new features of LR5, like Smart Preview, Radial filter, and many updates to the basic panels in classic, lightroom, and the module. Can see that a few bugs were left aside, like quickly import too many images and Lightroom will crash, lately more images in the catalog, minimal changes in the basic view (now lasts time, etc.) Performance is ok, but, like usual, lighroom is not perfect. It’s ok to use it, or try it now, but don’t upgrade yet if you need speed and genius performance. I like Lightroom 5 latest changes for example, the radial filter, the smart preview ability, and the ability to share projects with anyone, but I would wait a bit more before we upgrade. Current updates make Lightroom 5 a nice software library to use for now, specially with radial filter, smart previews, and sharing. Some say they are beta software, but what about the new Lightroom 6 (in a few month), they should put it there also.
I spend a lot of time in fix and back to normal, but sometimes it is needed to play with new features, like this one is one of those times.
I am writing this also because I liked a lot your company. I like your work, as a professional photographer; I am a small fish, so I always have a reason to attend your conference and conferences of your clients and image editing products you present. Thanks to you you are a great company that produces for photographers, so I hope you will keep being what you are.
