So, i have LR 5.2rc and i see a slight increase in performance under my specific circumstance, as well. But, under growing complexity/size of files, i can definitely see a decline in performance, especially working in lib. mode.

Hey I’ve been using Lightroom 5 for over a month, and love it. It’s refreshing to have a program that is trying to bring the all the features we have come to rely on in various other programs and making it free!

I have a question: When you preview an image in the Develop module, is Lightroom expecting to have a selection object open or selected? When I select to edit a specific area of an image and then preview it, Lightroom seems to select the image for me. Is this NOT the way it should be?

Hi I have been using LR5 for a few months now, With a initial experience of a few crashes, etc. I have to say I love it. Really neat program. Only problem was the odd refresh I needed to get it in the most recent version. More stable now, Im sure. Yes there is room for improvement. For example the face recognition in the Develop module and the face magnetic lens feature for lens sfx could be incorporated in a better way. But its really nice when you dont need to use many options. The lite version of the program is free, and so is the pro version. If you are looking for a good photo organization tool Im sure the lightroom is a good option. Good luck in your photography. Cheers!

I’ve recently played with the Lightroom 5 beta and is great so far.
In previous versions of Lightroom I worked with both the standard and the innovative collections. After upgrading to 5 I have two collections, one the Innovative collection with presets that were created by Apple, together with Lightroom CC, and another standard collection with presets created by me or others. It feels like the Innovative collection has more possibilities, but I don’t know what I would do with my images if it hadn’t been for the standard collection. So far I haven’t tested the publishing functionality. The auto app kit and the grading screen are nice features.
The “Other” Library view, which can be collapsed, is rather nice, as well as the “Star Ratings”. I’m really missing the editor tabs, but maybe they will be back in the next version, and I don’t know if they will be able to update those tabs across the different 5 installations, but it’s worth mentioning.
I do not know if the issues with the presets in some extreme conditions will go away, but it’s good to know that they are being worked on.
I think Lightroom 5 is a great choice for those who are serious photographers who want to have the most out of their smartphones and tablets (for those hurried people like me).
