this video is a teaser for the website. i created this to showcase some of the custom functions that i developed for creating the custom logo animation below. i started out with a hand drawn logo in tvpaint, then imported it into photoshop. this is a custom function that allows you to export any tvpaint logo, and save it as a.png file. i then imported the logo into photoshop to color it, add a background to it, then saved the file as a.png. i then imported the.png file into tvpaint and the logo animation was complete. see the video below to see the animation in action:
this is the final video. i did the animation in tvpaint and the background in photoshop. i added a title and music to the video as well. i had to “auto-animate” the logo so that it would animate to the right on its own, since the logo animation was so small. you can see the final result in the video.
this is a video i did for the website. i wanted to create a video that showcased the logo animation above, and the custom animation functions i created to make the video above. this video took a little bit longer to complete than the others, but it was a lot of fun to make. i started out with a logo animation in tvpaint, then imported it into photoshop. this is a custom function that allows you to export any tvpaint logo, and save it as a.png file.
tvpaint offers various options for text. you can change the text color, text size, shadows and backgrounds. you can even change the opacity of text (0 = invisible, 1 = 100% opaque) or add a text rotation. you can also add a text layer. to do this, choose text > add text layer. then you can start drawing your text on the timeline. you can edit the text or rotate it, apply a shadow or background or change the size of it. once you are done you can layer > link the text layer to the “image” layer or to a color layer. the text layer is a floating layer and can be moved around or scaled independently of the “image” layer.

the best way to animate in tvpaint is to use layers, and the layers are not visible until you turn them on. in the left-hand panel, you can see all of the layers. to switch on a layer, double-click on it. to switch on and off, use the “a” keys. after switching on a layer, you can move and rotate it, change its color, opacity, and any other property. if the layer contains a drawing or painting, it will automatically appear in the drawing area, even if it is off the canvas. you can also use the “b” keys to create a reference or mask layer, and the “m” keys to manipulate the mask. there are some other keys which let you change the size of the canvas, but you may need to work a little to get them to work. you can also change the color of the background. to make a layer inactive, use the “i” keys. to bring it back into the drawing area, use the “u” keys. you can also use the “d” keys to delete the layer.
if you don’t want to use the flips shortcuts and only need to flip from key to key, you can adopt a simpler system of bookmarking each key and setting shortcuts for next bookmark and previous bookmark to flip between them. see tvpaint user manual section on bookmarks . the default shortcuts are ctrl shift right for next bookmark and ctrl shift left for previous bookmark, but you can assign those to other keys if you prefer.
