the film is a little less serious than the first two and far more fun. the narnians are still a bit stiff and formal but caspians uncle miraz is much more fun to watch than the previous two kings. the humor is vastly improved as well. the humor centers mainly around caspian. his complete lack of ambition, his unfailingly kind heart and his inability to fight back are all a constant source of amusement for the audience.
the film is much more fleshed out and complex. its also somewhat darker than the first film. the narnians are a bit more dysfunctional. the telmarines have a lot of crazy lore and are far more diverse and interesting than the simple-minded and bullying telmarines of the first movie. the forest people are much more compelling than in the first film. the action sequences are much more varied and exciting. and of course, theres the usual amount of magic and faith in an awesome world and a great cast of characters.
the film also feels disjointed and isnt as well-paced as the first two films. there are some really odd holes in the story. for example, how does the telmarine army get to narnia? is it following the river? why does rilian escape them? and why does she leave the forest people? these are just a few of the many glaring problems with the script. and i wasnt the only one to notice. the film is marred by many more things besides the writing. it just doesnt flow very well.
after a couple of days of wandering, caspian runs across a talking horse named bree, who appears to be a leader of sorts in the land of calormen, in what is now modern day pakistan. he is also given a book called the the lion, the witch and the wardrobe that tells a story of narnia. he embarks on a journey to get to narnia, and to stop his evil uncle and aunt from following him. along the way, he meets up with his two siblings, lucy, the eldest child, and edmund, the middle child. he also manages to make a long-distance friendship with the talking badger, puzzle, and befriend a talking owl called peter. the film ends with caspian crowned king of narnia.
